Ashley Johnson's passion for helping others began in her teens after experiencing a life-changing crisis of her own. As a survivor of Hurricane Katrina, Ashley experienced firsthand the devastating effects of displacement, loss, uncertainty, and the challenges that followed for her family.
Through her own healing journey, Ashley developed a deeper understanding of resilience, the importance of support, and the power of creating pathways toward hope and restoration. Those experiences became part of what inspired her lifelong commitment to helping others navigate difficult seasons of life.
After beginning her career in New Orleans, Ashley relocated to Colorado and continued building a career centered on supporting individuals, families, and communities. For more than 10 years, she has worked across nonprofit organizations, local government, and state government, with extensive experience in housing and social services.
Her professional work has included supporting people experiencing housing instability, financial hardship, mental health challenges, substance use, family and community challenges, and involvement with social service and justice systems.
These experiences shaped Ashley's belief that people cannot always be understood by looking at symptoms alone. Our experiences, relationships, environments, resources, and the systems around us can all influence how we experience ourselves and the world.
Ashley provides trauma-informed, strengths-based therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, life transitions, self-worth concerns, and other challenges that may be affecting their ability to move forward.
Her approach is collaborative and reflective. Rather than simply telling clients what they should do, Ashley creates space for clients to slow down, explore what they are experiencing, recognize patterns, and develop their own insight.
She believes clients often possess strengths, knowledge, and internal resources that may be difficult to access when they are overwhelmed or carrying the effects of past experiences.
Through thoughtful questioning, therapeutic processing, EMDR, and other evidence-informed approaches, Ashley works alongside clients as they develop greater awareness, reconnect with their strengths, and determine what meaningful change looks like for them.
